Short answers about Singapore brokerage fees, GST, CDP and custodian accounts, and how this site works.
Brokerage fees: questions and answers
How much does it cost to buy S$5,000 of SGX shares?
Using each broker's standard published rates (GST included), the lowest total for a S$5,000 SGX buy order is S$4.36 with IBKR Pro (Fixed) at Interactive Brokers, where shares are held by a custodian or the page doesn't say. For shares settled into your own CDP account, the lowest we can source is S$29.82 with UOB Kay Hian Cash account at UOB Kay Hian. See the example tables for every plan.
How much does it cost to buy US$5,000 of US shares?
At a share price of US$100, the lowest published total is US$0.00 (IBKR Lite at Interactive Brokers and Webull). Per-share fees change with the share price; the calculator lets you set it. Fees charged only on sells, such as the SEC fee, are not included.
What is the difference between a CDP account and a custodian account?
With a CDP-linked account, the SGX shares you buy are held in your own securities account at The Central Depository (CDP). With a custodian account, the broker or its custodian holds the shares for you. Custodian accounts often have lower published fees; the calculator lets you filter by account type.
Which brokers do you cover?
Interactive Brokers, Saxo, Tiger Brokers, Webull and UOB Kay Hian. We list brokers whose published website terms allow us to show and link to their fees. Other brokers can ask to be added: get your broker listed.
Which SGX fees apply to every trade?
Brokers pass on the SGX clearing fee (0.0325% of trade value) and the SGX trading fee (0.0075%), as published on the broker fee pages we use. Some plans, such as IBKR Pro Fixed, include these in one all-in rate. Many brokers also pass on an SGX settlement instruction (SI) fee of S$0.35.
Is GST charged on brokerage fees?
Yes, for Singapore residents. GST is 9% (IRAS). Each broker says which fees it applies GST to; we follow each broker's own statement. Untick the GST box in the calculator if it doesn't apply to you.
Does the calculator include fees charged on sells?
No. It prices a buy order. US sell orders also pay regulatory fees such as the SEC fee and the FINRA trading activity fee, which are not included.
Are promotions included?
No. Totals use each broker's standard published rates. Official promotions are listed separately on the promotions page with their end dates.
How often are the fees checked?
Every week. Each fee stores the page it came from and the date we last confirmed it was still published there. If a page changes, the fee goes to manual review; nothing is updated automatically. Current data was verified on 26 Oct 2026.
Do brokers pay you?
Not at the moment. If we add affiliate links later, they will be labelled "Affiliate link" or "Sponsored" and will never change the fees shown or the order. See how we make money.
Is this financial advice?
No. This site compares published fees only. It does not recommend any broker, security or trade. Check the broker's own fee page before you trade.
